Rogers believes that there are three different parts to our self.
- the public self
- the private self
- the core self
Our public self is what we openly reveal to otheres, for example our hobbies and interests, the level of confidence in whcih a person is feeling and our likes and dis-likes.
Our private self is what a person shares only with friends and family, for example some one may only share events from there past with there loved ones but distant friends may not be aware of the event in question.
Our core self is what we keep to our selves, for instance our insecurities and our imagionation.
